Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was around 6 in the morning when  I heard my phone ringing. I was a bit nervous because it was not normal for my phone to ring such an hour. I then decided to check what it could be, only to realize it an Mpesa message from GiveDirectly, I was so glad because I knew I would achieve a lot.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I now own a pair of oxen. I believe this pair will be helpful in ploughing my farm on time since it takes fewer days to plough an acre as compared to doing it myself. I am assured of getting increased harvest as compared to when I used to do farming without the oxen. Apart from ploughing, I will also hire them to my neighbours during the planting season at a fee, thus getting some income that can help me sustain houshold needs with ease.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent part of my first transfer on buying some iron sheets, building poles, timber, and nails. This was for the renovation of my house since it was in a poor state. I also bought some beddings such as a mattress and a wooden bed. In addition, I bought a pair of oxen specifically for my agricultural activities. The remaining amount of money, I bought enough foodstuffs and some decent clothes for my children.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Owning a piece of land has always been my desire in my life. Currently, we are living in a 3-acre land which I share with my 4 brothers. I am planning to spend 700 dollars on purchase 2 acres of land once I receive my transfer. I will then use it for farming which will assure me of more harvest hence enough food for my family. Generally, this what receiving this money means to me.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Morning and afternoon are always the busy moments of my day. Working in my small farm in the morning and doing my house chores is the afternoon. The only time can relax my body is in the evening will eating with my family members. Therefore I consider it as my happiest part of my day.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Food insecurity has been my biggest hardship. This has been brought by the small farm I cultivate. I am happy because I will be able to feed my family more easily.
