How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I am now a proud owner of a piece of land. I can now do farm in a big piece of land which means enough supply of harvest throughout the year. We can eat well and dress well due to the boost in the harvest. We can eat and sell the surplus to earn us more income for the family.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
They help in elevating people's lives. My life has changed tremendously because of them. I have acquired several things in life that I could not be able to get. They have done nothing wrong that I know.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent the transfer on buying livestock that I plan to rear for the financial security of my family. I can sell the cow whenever the need to pay school fees for my children arises. I also used part of the transfer to buy a piece of land for family development. I plan to venture into large scale farming and livestock rearing and also poultry farming. These will help in day to day provision of the family by earning us income. I required a bigger space to do the above. I also hired a tractor to plough my farm as we were getting ready to plant our seeds ahead of the coming rains.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference is that I am assured of a brighter future now that I have managed to farm sugar cane. The revenue from the sales will be of great help in improving the living standards of my family members.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received the transfers I knew that this was the beginning of the transformation in my life. I had plans but resources were the main hindrances but now that I received finances I knew my plans would roll out and this made me a happy person.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I did use my most recent transfer to start a sugarcane farming a plan that I have always had but I lacked resources to implement it. After maturity, the revenue from the cane farming will help me start a poultry business for I have discovered a business gap in the poultry products. So far the sugar cane is growing so well.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means a great restoration to my second hand clothe business that collapsed, it therefore means I will buy new stock and start selling again. Then Givedirectly second transfer will help me in improving my farming by hiring more farms to plant maize which will ensure that my family become food sufficient. I must say I am very happy at Givedirectly creating new hope in my life.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My happiest part of the day is usually in the morning when I wake up in sound health and able to go out and work so that I will be able to have food for my family.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced in life was early last year that challenges came to my family in double whereby my husband lost his job and the death of my mother that occured after I spent a lot of money in her medication leaving me without any savings nor business to sustain ourselves.
