Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It is my helper who informed me that money had been sent to my account. I had left my phone with Tabitha the person that I chose to help me in transacting GiveDirectly transfers. When she shared the information with me, I felt so happy that I was finally going to be able to put up a better structure like I had always wanted to put up one.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is the amount of joy and happiness within my household. Looking at the things that I have been able to accomplish makes me very happy and appreciative of GiveDirectly. I never thought I would accomplish these things anytime soon especially with the age that I am in. I have plans of buying a bed, and chairs that will further improve my home once I get my second transfer.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used my entire transfer to improve my house as I had planned before receiving GiveDirectly funds. Initially I had plans of building a whole new house but upon receiving my first transfer, I changed my plans and decided to improve the one that I had lived in all along. I feel so much happy that I not only have a better house but I have also constructed a goat house with the waste products from the old house. I am left with just the floor to cement and windows to fix. I look forward to receiving the second transfer and be in a position to accomplish all these.

What do you plan to do with the cash transfer?
We intend to use the transfer to build a better house, a timber walled and cemented floor. At my age, I am not able to smear the floor of our house with mud and so it is not in good shape and not comfortable to even host guests whenever they come to visit. Our house is old and dilapidated, we have lived in it for more than 30 years. We have never had the means to build a better one, but this help has come at a perfect time and we are glad that finally, we will have a better house. We plan to use $400 for household construction and use the rest of the money to purchase a dairy cow and to seek medication.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happy and thank God for the protection He has bestowed upon me. In the past life was hard, we were not enlightened as it is now. People used to die at an early age, before I got saved and became an ardent Christian, life was a challenge but God has been gracious to me. I am forever grateful to God and I enjoy going to church and fellowshipping with other Christians. There is joy in the house of God.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I have been having a toothache. It is itching a lot, this is the second tooth that is giving me sleepless nights after another one was removed last month at Makimeny clinic where the affected tooth was removed and I got relieved. Another one has since started to itch , it is so painful. I have just woken up, I did not sleep the whole night because of the pain that I was going through. I had wanted to go back to the dentist but I lacked $ 6 required for the procedure.I have been surviving on painkillers all this time.I have suffered a lot.
