How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The biggest difference in my life is that l am now staying in a iron roofed house where I am never worried about rainnny seasons compared to before when I used to be worried more so when it used to rain when I was not at home. I have earn a name in the village, I am now able to interact, socialize and share with my agemates something that I was just longing for. l am now using solar to light my house which is very convenient to my family and of a great help to my children when they are studying as compared to before when they were using tin lump. Solar has also become like a source of income because I use it to charge phones for people and get money for my up keep, which was not the case before. The better part of it is that I no longer spend money to buy parrafin which was very costly.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion give directly procedure of recruiting people was free and fair, their staffs were not corrupted. The process was also very secret, mostly their way of sending money which which was M-pesa was the best because it is very convenient and safe. I did not see anything that Give directly did not do well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent most of the transfer to add more building materials and built a spacious iron roofed house. I was staying in a grass-thatched and leaking house where I was not comfortable because any time it was raining I could be rained on, the house also was too small that I had to put things in one corner or pile in one place. I am now the most happiest person in our village because I was staying in a grass-thatched house where people were no longer stay in any more. I was so embarrassed but there was nothing I could because I could not afford to buy iron sheets. I am now staying in a spacious comfortable house where I am not worried when it is raining and I am very confident when I have visitors because I know it will accommodate all of them. I also spent most of the transfer to buy solar system for lighting my house. This has enabled my children carryout their studies with ease compared to when they were using tin lump which was affecting them and at the same time was very expensive to buy paraffin each and every time. The tin lump had so many challenges making it inconvenient because sometime it run out of parrafin while they were still studying . I was also tired of buying parrafin every now and then. The remaining balance I spent to pay two mattresses for my children and for my own. I am now sleeping very comfortably I no longer complain of uncomfortability.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money is going to uplift my living standards. I will build a new house because the hut I currently live in is too small and worn out and makes my family feel so uncomfortable during rainy seasons because it leaks from the roof and walls.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is at noon while having lunch with my children. Seeing smiles on their faces makes me jovial.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced in life is when my fifth child fell sick two years ago and was admitted in the hospital for two months. I had to use all the wealth I had to seek her treatment and was left poor. Despite being treated she remained epileptic till to to date.
