How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is grate now because I am able to feed my children well and meet their medical bills in case they fall sick. My children now sleep on a mattress and good bedsheets. I am a single parent who has been struggling to raise 2 children without a mother. Initially, I had to offer casual labor for their survival and I had debts in the clinics that I could not pay.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly staff are doing well because they are committed and they speak to all people with respect during the home visits. There is nothing wrong that GiveDirectly has done.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I used my second transfer for paying my mother's money UGX 730,000 that got lost. She blamed me for bringing less money from the agent yet her money was stolen from the house. I bought a cow, clothes for my children and food. I saved UGX 300,000.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
My life has improved because through this cash transfer, I was able to acquire calves which l'm rearing in preparation for my children's future like paying schools and treatment. Previously, I did casual work which could not give me enough money to provide basic needs for my children and I never owned Livestock ( calves).
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I got money, I felt very because I got money which I had never earned in my entire life.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I bought 3 calves and a hen worth 1,250,000, bought clothing/ household goods (mattress, utensils and curtains) worth UGX 300,000, cleared a debt worth 250,000 and bought food( cassava flour and silver fish) worth UGX 15,000. There is a balance of 20,000 which I'm planning to spend on food.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that I will be able to buy land. I only have a home stead but have no where to cultivate and plant crops hence no food to eat at my home. Therefore give directly money will give me a chance of owning my land for farming. What can be produced here I will be using as food stuff and selling some to raise money for providing other neccessities.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My fouvrite hours is evening hours. Iam too much engaged starting from morning looking for what my children can eat since I stay with them alone. I do causal labour for their well being ,so the only reliable time of happiesnes is evening hours. My children eat and feel satisfied with no gloomy faces and this makes me phycologically better.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I face is lack of money . I do not any source of income generating activity since I rely on causal labour. This fetches very little to help sustain the needs of my family members. Iam able to provide a single meal a day depending on what I get hence my family members are facing malnutrition.
