How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I will now live in a spacious and iron sheet roofed house where my 6 children and household furniture will be more safe, secure and comfortably. The old grass-thatched house leaked every rainy season even after putting a plastic paper. We had to fetch grass in the bush every season for the house roofing and we got scracthed and pierced by thorns. Thanks to you, all this is now over.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly does well in giving out unconditional cash transfers which helps us solve our problems. GiveDirectly did not do well in giving out only two transfers; at least they could have given me 3 transfers to finish my house construction project properly.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I have spent the second transfer on construction of my new house. I have bought iron sheets, cement and saved some to pay the builder.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
This money will mean a lot to me and my family. We have always been struggling with basic needs for survival as you can see the condition of my house. We have poor beddings and an ever leaking house in times of rain. This money will help us fix all those and the remaining money will go towards buying household items such as pots, buckets and clothes for my wife and children.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am very happy in the afternoon. This is the time I get to relax after a long day at the garden.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship has been failing to harvest enough to feed my family. This comes due to the low amount of inputs such as fertilizer, seeds and other items that we receive from government as we were privileged to be in the farm input subsidy program of government. Hence we plant lower quality seeds most of the times since the given one is very little and the fertilizer is never enough.
