What did you spend your second transfer on?
I bought a cow that costed me 20,000 KES, I bought 20 pieces of iron sheet each at 750 KES this costed me 15,000 KES and the remaining amount I started a second hand clothe business.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Give directly has enabled me to start a business that will improve my living standards. Currently I have not seen anything bad that GD has done.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Currently, I am able to feed well, do my business well and take care of my family very well like everyone else in the village. Unlike previously I could go without food.

What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer on buying two bags of maize at 8,400 KES, erected a pit latrine at 5,500 KES, bought clothes and mattress for my children at 4,300 KES, gave my maternal mother 4,000 KES, paid 3,000 KES debt, bought a cow at 10,000 KES. Am now happy that I have a cow for financial security.

I felt happy when I received the money because it help me have a better life.

What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happiest during the day when I talk to my neighbours which makes me to forget my problems.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I faced is when I got an accident, got injured and I was unable to fend for my children. This is because I am the sole breadwinner as my husband who stays in town has abandoned his family.
What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this transfer will make me happy because I never expected to get huge sum of money at once in my entire life. I will finally relax from the strenuous job of sand mining, which has caused me chest problems because of, carrying a bucketful of sand on my head each morning.
