How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is currently different because I now have an income form the dairy cow that I bought. I am happy to have milk that I sell and that I use for my family's consumption. I used to buy milk from my neighbors which would often make my daily household expenditure very high. I am also extremely excited about plastering the floor of my house. The earthen floor usually gets dumb during rainy seasons. I will avoid this situation once I make a concrete floor. Income source and improving my home would not have been feasible were it not for GiveDirectly.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly did well because they treated all the people in my village equally. They never listened to peoples' opinions about other people's financial status that would have led to discrimination. They worked independently when they came to enroll people in the program.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent the money I received on completing muy house. I used the money to make a concrete floor. I bought the ballast and sand that I needed. I have then saved part money for buying cement once the construction. I am still waiting for the rain to subside so that I can bring that material that I bought for my compound. Part of the money will go towards the construction labor.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have been able to resume my studies. Before GiveDirectly came for enrollment, I had been forced to defer my studies for some time due to a lack of school fees. This is because the little money my spouse usually gets from doing menial jobs around the village was not enough to cater for our daily needs and my school fees. GiveDirectly is a blessing in my life because it is through them that I am now pursuing my dream course.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was around 5 a.m. when I received a message notification. Since I was awake, I decided to check who the sender was and know its contents. Upon realizing that GiveDirectly had sent me the money they had promised, I was filled with joy. I whispered a word of prayer to thank God for the blessings that had just come in. With this money in my account, I felt that my dreams had finally been achieved.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent KES 20000 from my first transfer to pay for my school fees. We decided on this as a family since I had been forced to defer my studies for some time due to lack of school fees. Also, I spent KES 25000 to buy a dairy cow for rearing. This is not only an asset to my family but also a source of income through milk sales when it reproduces. From the remaining amount, I bought some food, new clothes, and shoes for my family.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money will enable me to complete constructing my kitchen.I built a kitchen made of timber but I have not been able to complete it due to shortage of money.I also intend to buy a cow with a part of the transfer.My family has one at the moment but its getting old.Once am able to milk the one I will buy,I will then sell it and buy another heifer.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning.This is the time that I go to work in my garden.In it,I plant vegetables on a small portion and sometimes maize.Doing this makes me happy because through it my family gets its food and I do not have to incur extra expenses to buy vegetables from neighbours
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I got married immediately after completing high school.Since I had scored a good grade,I expected that I will immediately proceed to college.This happened but shortly after,I had to defer my studies because my spouse could not raise the fees.He has been shouldering the burden of educating his siblings since his father passed on and therefore he could not manage to pay theirs as well as mine at the same time.I therefore had to drop out of college,but I intend to go back soon to complete my course.This lack of money to pay my college fees has been the biggest hardship I have faced.
