Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My additional goals for the next four months is to be able to continue paying for the delight solar that I bought on credit. This delight has enabled us have brighter nights and get to be happy as a family contrary to the days before when we could retire to bed early not because we wanted but because it was often awkward to stay together as a family in darkness. GiveDirectly has brought my family together and I am so grateful for this. After completion of this payment, then I can think of other valuable investments that will change the living standards of my family as well.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is the peace of mind that I now have. In the past I used to get disturbed a lot on what I would use to send my child to school but with GiveDirectly transfers, I have been able to send my child to school and give them pocket money without much struggle. This has given them an opportunity to study well in school and move towards achieving a brighter future that which I had always desired.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I expect that my life shall have changed significantly in that I shall have more income through the cow that I bought with the transfers. By this time, the cow shall have started producing milk making the coast of living much more affordable for us as a family. I also expect to have started a poultry keeping project by end of six months. I plan to do this by starting small ie buying poultry in bits and expanding the project with time.

The biggest difference in my daily life that has occurred to me over the last four months is the goat that I have been able to buy. This goat is so instrumental to me and to my investments since it will boost me in case I meet any financial emergencies that require huge funding. Moreover, I no longer struggle a lot with meeting the basic household needs like I used to do before I received money from GiveDirectly. Payment of school fees for my child as well as pocket money has also been made much more easy for me courtesy of GiveDirectly transfers.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I expect my life to change positively by a great deal. I expect that I shall have implemented the poultry keeping project and hence be more financially independent than I am right now. The livestock shall be of great help to me and my family in meeting any emergency financial needs in future like paying school fees for my children.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Comparing my life with how it was four months ago, I can attest that it has really changed. From the solar lighting system that never existed before and is now in place to the relief that I got by reducing the amount of casual labor that I engage in as I struggled to get income to meet my daily needs. My farming has really improved since I have improved my farming methods by resorting to machinery unlike in the past when I relied on hand tools to practice farming. This has led to increased food production where I get surplus food for sale.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
It has been my dream that we will one day have our own cow. As we are going on with the payment of the lighting system that we bought on hire purchase, this is an additional goal which we are currently working on. We plan to actualize this by making monthly contributions as a savings plan.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life over the last four months is the improved lighting system in our household. I obtained a solar lighting system that amounted to KES 30000. I could not pay for this in cash and I had to pay a deposit of KES 1800 and a monthly installment of KES 1000 for three years. I consider this as one of my greatest achievement that has brought great difference in my daily life.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, we shall have accumulated enough money to buy a dairy cow. My husband and I have agreed on a monthly contribution which we will be saving towards the realization of this goal. The dairy cow shall bring great relief to us as a family especially on the cost of buying milk which has proven to be so costly to us.

My life is currently different in that I no longer take debts. I am now able to plan well and ensure am living within my means. Initially, I depended on casual jobs which could not help me achieve most of my needs. I ended up taking loans which made me loose friends since every time they saw me they thought I was about to ask for something. I lost a lot of respect and dignity but I am happy my habit of asking has reduced. I am able to pay my children's school fees on time which enables them to study peacfully without being sent home
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My objective is to continue saving so that I am able to spend it on daughters graduation come August this year. I am so proud of her because she never disappointed me. I have to celebrate and appreciate her. I do not think I would have managed to hold the small celebration without the help of Give Directly.
