How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Previously, my primary goal was to establish a home for my family, as it would alleviate the burden of paying rent. The weight of rent expenses is challenging given that I have a disabled child. Having a home would be a significant boost for my family, as it will enable me to provide more support. Additionally, having a home will help me focus on meeting my child's medical needs without the added worry of raising monthly rent. Ensuring his medication and healthcare requirements are met is a top priority for me.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has proven to be effective in giving financial support to those in need. Its direct cash transfers have successfully alleviated financial constraints, empowering individuals to invest in projects that improve their lives, such as constructing better houses. Moreover, GiveDirectly's staff members exhibit respect and professionalism when communicating with us, fostering a positive and dignified experience. In addition, it excels in its mission to uplift communities. GiveDirectly continues to make a significant difference in the lives of the less fortunate, leaving a lasting impression of support, empowerment, and hope. However, it is worth noting that there have been occasional delays in the release of transfer dates, which can cause some inconvenience.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
Over the past four months, the monthly transfers I received have been helpful, especially when it comes to paying my rent. I reside in a rental house where the monthly rent is $15. This assistance has significantly eased my burden, considering I have a disabled child named John. With the remaining $14, I can cover the extensive medical costs associated with John's needs. The impact on my life has been remarkable since the transfers enabled me to meet my daily needs despite the hard economic times. I am immensely grateful for the support that has uplifted our lives during these challenging times.

How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Currently, I only have two major goals. The first one is to build a home before this year ends. That will save me from the burden of paying monthly rent. In addition, because I have a suckling child, I will always divert my monthly transfers toward his medication. I always pray that he receives good health and fully recovers. Meeting his medical bills has become an expensive venture.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
As of right now, I consider GiveDirectly to be a top pick. Many people I meet with, including non residents of my community, always want to be enrolled in its program due to the fact that it provides direct financial payments. Because of the beneficial changes it has made in our lives, its was of operation has a significant effect on people's lives. For instance, some residents of our hamlet were able to construct new homes, while others were able to finance education of their childre. Nothing that GD has done thus far has been successful.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I have spent the last five years residing in the neighborhood center. I always rent a house since I can't build in our house because of cultural concerns. I choose to save when I recently received a transfer because renting a house is expensive. Before the year ends, I want to buy the building supplies I require to build a home. The remainder of the prior transfers enabled me to pay my 5-year-old son John's medical expenses. Since the age of three months, he has had a chronic illness.

How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I intend to construct a four-room mud-thatched house next year to provide my family and me with a comfortable place to live. Due to the high cost of living, my present living situation—a rented home where I typically pay $15 per month—has become very stressful. I have been buying construction supplies in bits, and I still plan to do so using the money from my upcoming transfers and the wages from my casual labor to enable me to achieve this goal.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly does well by giving us unconditional financial support which enables us to meet our basic necessities. Additionally, the organization does well by monitoring how we spend our transfers hence encouraging us to wisely spend the transfers.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
When I got the transfer, I was grieving my grandma who had passed on a few days ago. The transfer, therefore, came in handy as it enabled me to purchase a goat worth $30 used at the burial for food. Contributing to my grandmother's send-off as the eldest grandchild boosted my self-esteem. I thank GiveDirectly for the financial support.

How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I have a plan to put up my home. Therefore I have been sending both part of my transfer and the little cash I get from my daily hustles. Therefore I have started buying iron sheets and a few building material towards my project. I though of putting up a home because I do not have a house at home and when I got married I moved to rent a house in a nearly center. Through guidance, I was advised that there no need of building a house in my parents home and still I will move out to put up my home , instead I just prepare myself where ever I am and move ones. I saw it was wise because it was going to be less costly.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Give Directly does well in uplifting the living standards of the poor by giving us unconditional cash transfers. What makes me happy is that GD gives money out with no orders hence you can decide on how to use it depending on your needs. This was a great decision because we are given room to develop ourselves in different way. I haven't seen what GD does not do well from my end.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent my transfer to buy maize for family consumption and a few other foodstuffs. In addition I have a sick child hence the remaining a mount I spent on paying the hospital bill for my sick child. It is worrying that climate has changed and this has really affected our farm produce. We mostly rely on farming and due to lack of rains we harvested nothing. Therefore when I received my transfer I ensured that I buy enough maize at least to keep us for a certain period of time before going back on buying smaller quantities.
