How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I am very proud that I constructed a spacious two roomed permanent house. In the past, I was living in a small congested house which could not accommodate the whole family. In addition to this, I also paid my children's school fees.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly does well to support the poor by sending them cash transfers. GiveDirectly has only done great things in our community.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent the cash transfer to complete the house construction.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I feel empowered financially. Moreso that I received a nonconditional cash transfer that has empowered me to pay school fees. In addition to this, I bought construction materials. I would not have achieved these without the aid of GiveDirectly.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I read the mobile money message the following day. I felt extremely happy because I had obligations that required alot of money.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I purchased cement worth UGX 280000 and timber worth UGX 270000 and ironsheets worth UGX 280000. I spent UGX 330000 for my child's school fees. I saved UGX 50000 with a savings group and the balance was spent on buying food.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money will mean that I will be able to educate my children with ease. I have been struggling to pay schoool fees with the produce from farming which has not done well this time round.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am always happy when I have got/received money for paying my children's school fees and feeding my household members.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I faced is that I do not have a widder source of income for paying my children's school fees hence they are chased out of school frequently.
