How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Before I started receiving the transfer, I used to spend so much time working on other people's farms as a casual since I did not have much to do at home, and I needed money to take care of my family. These affected the productivity of my own farm and when I bought the few livestock, I now spend almost the whole day on my farm looking after the animals and doing other activities. I am happy that the proceeds I get from my farm are able to take care of our basic needs. Apart from that, I no longer overwork myself like I used to do.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, I loved that the transfers were sent straight to the intended recipient to reduce the risk and the possibility of loss and misuse. I also loved that every household in the village received this money. In my view, everything was done alright.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I bought a cow and some sheep for rearing using the second transfer received. I have always wanted to have some livestock that would provide with milk and some source of livelihood and when I got the transfers, I jumped right into it. I used the rest of the transfer to finish building the house that I had previously started building.
