How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Looking back at how our lives were and how it would have been now if we had not received the transfers, it is clear that we would still be undergoing great suffering. Our farming was getting worse every day since we never had enough finances to obtain the then needed types of equipment for facilitating the work. Currently, I am glad and proud of GiveDirectly since, through the transfers, I was able to purchase a water pump generator which is currently acting as a water pump meant for irrigation during the dry seasons.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, all the work which was done by GiveDirectly in our village was really well done. No one complained at all but instead, we were grateful for the promise which was delivered in time to save us in starting the great projects which are now on.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
Upon receiving the transfers from GiveDirectly, our priority was to invest part of it in farming. We took the first 45000 KES out of it and spent on buying farm inputs which included fertilizers, seeds, and also used the remaining on leasing an extra piece of land. We ade this decision since this has been our core source of income for a long period of time. With the remaining amount, we split it into two parts; the first patch went to school fees payment for our children and the remaining 16500 KES served the household goods which included foodstuff, furniture, and also clothing.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means improvement in agriculture and increased income. I would like to spend the transfer on buying a water pump that I shall use to irrigate my horticultural farm. This will be of sustainable income and self-employment for my family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening when we share food with my family. During this time, we share our daily experiences and encouge one another to pull up our socks for a better future.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I face in life is lack of proper source of income. I depend on casual labor that is unpredictable and pays very low. I am unable to provide for my family's basic needs.
