How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I am determined to secure my own market space, ideally a ten by ten-foot area where I can set up a storage facility and sell my farm produce. This is a goal I am actively pursuing for the upcoming year and beyond. While I currently sell my produce from home to neighbors, the sales are limited. I believe that operating in the market will attract more customers and significantly increase my income. Therefore, through my savings from these sales and with the support of part of Give Directly's transfer, I am optimistic about achieving my dream of owning a ten by ten storage space. Due to my medical condition, which requires monthly hospital visits, I rely solely on my efforts to raise money for medication through this business. I am unsure of the current cost of market space, but I will gather this information when I am prepared. Acquiring this business premise will enable me to generate sufficient profits to cover transportation costs to and from the hospital, as well as other essential needs.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Give Directly does well in providing equal financial support to all qualifying individuals, including those aged 18 and above. This initiative has significantly helped young people generate more income by investing in businesses, enabling many to settle their bills. Furthermore, college students are able to independently pay their rent, alleviating financial burdens for us parents
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I depend entirely on farming for my livelihood, investing capital to ensure a successful harvest. When farming yields good returns, it relieves financial stress by providing a means to address various financial needs. Therefore, when I received my most recent transfer, I had already hired someone to help cultivate my land, which required a total cost of $60. Consequently, I used the entire transfer along with my other savings to cover this expense.

How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
In the upcoming year and beyond, my plan is to construct a permanent ten-foot by ten-foot storage facility for my farm produce, anticipating a rise in production. This store will serve as my selling point for my agricultural goods. I aim to generate the $500 needed for this project through the proceeds from selling my farm produce and my future transfers.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
I believe that GiveDirectly is commendable for its practice of providing equal transfers to every individual in the household and community. This approach fosters a sense of harmony among us, the beneficiaries, and has significantly strengthened our financial independence.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
Since it was a planting season, I utilized the $29 I got from GiveDirectly by investing it in farming. I decided to plant a variety of crops such as maize, groundnuts, green grams, and beans on a considerable scale, aiming for both personal use and commercial purposes. Unfortunately, I fell ill at the beginning of the planting season, and due to the substantial size of my farm, I sought assistance from others to manage the workload. To fund this endeavour, I supplemented my transfer with the income from the sale of my previous harvest, ultimately gathering $50 for the farming activities.

How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
In the coming year and beyond, my main focus will be safeguarding my health for a quick recovery. Having experienced the challenges of a stroke and being still dependent on medication, I am determined to remain vigilant in caring for my well-being. With unwavering determination, I will utilize the subsequent transfers and income from my farm produce to save the $38 needed for each clinic visit.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly has excelled in providing immense support to our community through its unconditional cash transfer program. The way the organization distributes financial aid to each of us is remarkable, fostering a sense of unity and inclusivity. Knowing that we all receive equal amounts of money eliminates any potential for envy or animosity, promoting peaceful coexistence among neighbors and friends.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I have been sick for almost a year now, and these monthly cash transfers have been an absolute lifeline in my recovery journey. They came in like a beacon of hope, offering me some financial relief during these challenging times. As I received my most recent transfer, I felt immense gratitude, knowing it would help me in the same crucial ways. With $800 for transportation expenses, I can make it to all my medical appointments and therapy sessions without worrying about the costs. Additionally, the $30 (from my transfers and income from the sale of my farm produce) allotted for prescribed medications ensures I can consistently follow the doctor's recommendations, giving me the best chance at regaining my health. These unconditional transfers have not only lightened my financial burden but have also brought a sense of security and optimism as I continue to fight for a healthier future. Each month, as the funds are deposited into my account, I am reminded of the incredible support and compassion of those who made this assistance possible. Without this steady aid, the road to recovery would have been even more challenging and uncertain.

How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Next year, I plan to continue investing in farming activities for subsistence and commercial purposes. My budget for this is $200 which I intend to raise through my subsequent transfers and by selling a chunk of my farm produce. The returns I will realize from farming will play a huge role in my medication and basic needs requirements.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Through your unconditional cash transfer, the less fortunate families have been economically uplifted hence improving their living standards. Sending the money to individual persons through their account numbers enhances transparency.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I received the money during a planting season and so I spent it on land preparation. I usually plant groundnuts, maize, and beans for commercial and consumption purposes. I am in One Acre Fund where I usually borrow seeds and fertilizer with a promise to repay back in installments. This month, I borrowed farm inputs worth $210. I, therefore, spent my most recent transfer to invest in farming. I combined the transfer and the income from the sale of groundnuts from my previous season's harvest and paid $50 for labor service fees (for ploughing).

How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
In January 2022, I intend to invest in farming in the next planting season for subsistence and commercial purposes. I will plant sorghum, maize, and beans through the One Acre Fund group. I will borrow farm inputs worth $200 with a promise of repaying after I have sold the farm produce.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly transfers have helped a good number of people to change their living styles. Some people were struggling to make ends meet but are now in better positions to cater to their basic needs through the businesses they started using money from GiveDirectly. Lastly, giving equal transfer has helped reduce conflict and hatred in society.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I have been sickling since last year and hence usually go to a clinic after every two months for check-ups. I received the transfer when I was to go for another check-up, but I had money so I used $8 of the transfer to cater for my transport. Next, my last farm harvest was minimal and was over when I received my recent transfer. I, therefore, spent the remaining part of my transfer to purchase enough food that the other five family members and I could rely on as we wait to invest in farming in the next season. Having food in the house made me enjoy great peace of mind.
