How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different now, I have cleared my children's school fees, bought land and household items like a bed, mattresses, utensils which I did not have before. If I had not got the money, my children would have been sent out of school for fees.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly did well to give me money and follow us up to find out if every one received the money successfully. To me, there is nothing GiveDirectly has done bad.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I used my second transfer for paying school fees of UGX 1,000,000. I bought a mattress and gave my in laws UGX 500,000 as dowery for my son's wife.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
There is big change in my life, I am no longer sickly and I am happy because I have deposited for the piece of land where I intend to stay in. Before receiving the transfer, I could be sickly of ulcer and over stressed since I did not have a place to call my home. My marriage failed and I came back to my father's home. According to our tradition, a married woman is not entitled to land in her place of birth. This is the reason as to why my life has been full of stress, my brothers have never been happy to have me at home. I am grateful to God for GiveDirectly.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received the transfer, I felt too much happiness. I started laughing a lone in the house at night and there was ululation in the whole community. I am still very happy and praying that God rewards GiveDirectly.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I deposited UGX 1,500,000 of my first transfer for purchase of a piece of land. I bought a bed, a mattress with the balance of the transfer.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will be able to buy a piece of land that I can cultivate. The space that is available for me to use is too small to accommodate my plans. I am hopping that this money will be a chance for me to get enough land and support my family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happiest in the evening when I am with my children. We share I deas as a family.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I am faced with is lack of farm land. I failed in marriage so I decided to buy a plot of land that I could settle with my children. I did not have enough money. I was able to pay for every small space that would only accommodate a home compound. I have a family that needs to feed and also have all other necessities of life but I am not in position to provide. I do casual labour most of the time.
