Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received my transfer, I was at home doing the normal house chores, when I heard my phone ringing and vibrating loudly, Upon checking I saw a Mpesa notification message showing that I had received money from GiveDirectly, I was overwhelmed with joy and happiness, I knew that I will be able to accomplish the goals that I had, in that, I was going to purchase a dairy cow which would enable me to cut down on the cost of milk daily, I was unable to buy a cow before due to financial constraints. I am grateful to have received support from GiveDirectly.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
My life is different now because I have managed to buy a dairy cow with the transfer I received from GiveDirectly, unlike before where I used to buy milk daily, I am glad that I can make a living out of it which is reliable, I then started a goat rearing project which I am hopeful that with time I will be able to get returns out of it. I am so happy and thankful that I was able to buy accomplish so much in a short period. I am grateful that GiveDirectly has lifted my living standard to a better and a higher level in my society.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I am a consistent farmer in the village, we are blessed with two children. For a long time now I have been buying milk for our daily consumption, this is very expensive for us due to unreliable sources of income, therefore I decided to use my first transfer in buying a dairy cow worth KES 35,000. I also used KES 6500 in starting a goat rearing project which is drought resistant and easy to maintain, Lastly, I bought a bag of maize at KES 3500. I am humbled and happy that I was able to accomplish so much within a short period, my children are happy now that we own a dairy cow. The support that I got from GiveDirectly lifted my life to a higher level and I am thankful for it,

What does receiving this money mean to you?
We sold our home land, 2 years ago with an intention to move to to another village. I ended being dubbed into buying a waterlogged land. There was no where to put up a house. I had to return back here but on about half an acre, too small to even produce food for my family. I will corect this mistake, by purchasing one acre. I will spend about KES 35000 on this, and further KES 20,000 to build a home on the new land. I will then spend about KES 30000 on dairy cow.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening. This is because I get to see the money I make from my small business selling spring onions in a local market. I enjoying looking back at the day to see the much I made, usually about KES 1500 on a good market day. This money goes along way in meeting my daily needs.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I face is lack of income to spend on my household needs. I need to have a dairy cow, from which I will sell milk. I will be spending the money to buy foodstuffs. I also have to get a piece of land since the one Iive on belongs to my cow wife. I ama just a squatter here.
