Our lives are much better after receiving the transfer. This is because we have some piece of land where we plant vegetables and other crops unlike before. I have always yearned to acquire some additional pieces of arable land since we have been owning 0.2 acres that is just enough to accommodate our homestead, leaving no room for farming. The food that we bought with the transfer, that is, three bags of maize and a 50-kg bag of rice will enable us to have something to eat for a while. I will hence not be having any worries about where to get money to buy food. The children too are happy because they have something to eat and new clothes for themselves.

The transfer from GiveDirectly has helped me a lot. I bought a cow with part of the transfer. I also bought food for our consumption as a family. I was able to buy three bags of maize and a 50-kg bag of rice. With the remaining amount, I used it in buying some clothes for my children. The reason why I decided to buy a cow is that I have been buying milk for a while. My children have hence not been getting enough milk for their consumption. I had some cows before but I had to sell them because one of my children had fallen ill and I needed money for his treatment. I have not been in a position to buy another cow since then due to financial constraints. I am a builder and at times I get work to do and at times there is none. When there no work to do, I usually do the business of moving people from one place to another with my motorbike. The money that I get from the two activities, has mostly been going to the purchase of everyday food and milk. It has thus been difficult for me to do the above because it was requiring a large sum of money that I did not have.
