Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was filled with happiness when I got a notification that I had received some money from GiveDirectly. I knew that my life would be much different as I would spend the money to pay school fees for my children.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
I am proud to own a heifer in my homestead and a stock of maize for resale courtesy of GiveDirectly. I use to struggle to save through my earning but now due to spread of covid-19 I lost my job. I now have assets that I can take pride in and lean on in case of financial needs but this had been challenging due to limited resources.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I sent part of my first transfer I received to by ten sacks of maize for resale. I had planned to spend on paying school fees for my children but now they are back home after the outbreak of Covid 19. I took this initiative as people are in dare need of food. I will be able to sell on a fair price and make some profit. The rest of the money I spend on buying a heifer and clothes for myself and children.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Being a single parent, I have always longing to provide my children with quality education like others in my village. Currently, my firstborn is in secondary school and my second born is in class 8 about to join secondary school next year. Receiving this money means investing in their educational need since I intend to spend my transfer to pay $ 400 fee balance.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My nights are always the happiest part of the day. Unlike morning and afternoon when I am busy with my class. I only get enough time rest and meet my family at night.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Despite the fact that I have experience as an ECD teacher, I have not been able to secure a proper job. This has forced me to resort to a part-time PTA teacher which is characterized by low pay of 80 dollars per month. This income is hardly enough to sustain the needs of my family especially my kids education. I am always troubled that I may fail to educate my children. Therefore, I consider lack of reliable source of income as my biggest hardship I am facing.
