How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Before, I had no where to get money to do certain things on time, like ploughing and weeding gardens. I couldn't afford feeding regularly or even buy basic household item like soap. Now life is different in that I can afford food regularly and meet daily home expenses. There's peace of mind because things you wish to do happen on time, thanks to GiveDirectly.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has done well giving money directly that has enabled people to uplift their livelihoods through acquiring items in need, for instance household items and permanent houses. In addition, the staff are so transparent and disciplined. I don't see anything it hasn't done well in my opinion.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
This second transfer was spent to buy another cow. I also paid labour to weed my crops, then spent on feeding and saved some for uncertainty.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
Currently, the biggest difference in my daily life is that, I dress decently and live an independent life. This has relieved my parents off the burden of taking care of my family.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was a round 6:00 am when I turned my phone on and a message from Givedirectly indicating that I had received money popped up. I was on my way to dig but I had to go back home to share the good news with my wife. She joined me to celebrate with joy and we planned on how to spend it at a later time when I returned from the garden.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent UGX 750000 for buying a cow as a saving for my household. I bought a mattress worth UGX 130000 and clothes costed UGX 200000 in order to improve on our living standards. I spent UGX 200000 for paying medical bills for my wife because we expected a new baby in our family. The balance of UGX 420000, I intend to spend it to support in farming when rains fall.
