How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I love investing my children as I know they will one day give back to us in better away. I value my children education thus I do any kind of casual jobs to see them in school. Raising their school fees has not been easy with the scarce resources in our family. The biggest difference in my daily life ever since I received transfer from GiveDirectly is seeing my children study without interruption in school after paying their school fees with part of it. I feel so happy and thankful when I see them in school knowing that they have good grades to take to next level of education and later on have good jobs.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly have proven to be different and ready to uplift the society. In my opinion, GD has been transparent, independent and firm on their decision that has allowed us equal chances of benefiting from the aid. I urge them to continue same way.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I had three children in secondary school that required a lot of money each term. As a casual laborer and subsistence farmer, raising this fee is a challenge thus I made a decision to spent KES15000 on my children fee. I am happy for the financial support that made my children get ample time in school to study. I took another KES 25000 to buy a heifer as away of investing part of my transfer. Since we had been facing food shortage in our family due to poor yields, I used KES 10000 on my household food. I took the remaining amount to spend on my household daily basic needs.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I am very excited to be among those who will be benefiting from these GD cash transfers. I am planning to use these funds to buy dairy cattle and clear school fee balances for my kids.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning when I wake up feeling fine, energized and ready to undertake my daily chores.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I am blessed with three kids who are yet to complete schooling- with the struggle of paying school fees for them being a persistent task in my life. I have sold almost all of my availlable resources to try and clear it but to no success and now I am left with little to sustain myself. For me this is the biggest hardship I have ever experienced.
