How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently different from the way it was four months ago in that currently, I live in a permanent house. Through my savings and the money I got from GiveDirectly, I managed to build this house. I will forever remember this organization because I am now respected in this village. I feel independent and worthy.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I don't have any new goal at the moment. I am still working on my house. I need to do some finishing and furnish my house using the money I am left with. I am that type of person who has to finish a project once and for all. I don't like living projects pending. That is why I need to focus until I am done completely
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The pride of every man is to own a home. I have always wanted to build something presentable for my family for a long time now. I have been saving the little I get from the casual jobs I do daily. I feel blessed with the boost I got from GiveDireclty. I'm proud I was able to construct a permanent house using that money. This makes me feel independent and comfortable.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I have a piece of land near the lake. Based on the fertility of the soil in that land I feel tomatoes can grow well. Therefore, in the next six months of my life, I have a goal of saving some money so that I can use it to prepare that land and plant the tomatoes. I have already found the right market where I will sell them so I have hopes of achieving some goals using the money I have gotten from this business after harvesting them.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I am hopeful of owning my own homestead. Therefore, I have bought building materials with the first transfer I received from GiveDirectly hence I wish to continue doing so with my upcoming transfer so that I can build a better house as soon as possible. This will definitely give me relief of paying monthly house rent and I will no longer have quarrels and disagreements with my landlord due to late payments.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I hope that in the next six months, I will have constructed the new iron-roofed house that I am planning to construct. This will definitely give me relief of paying monthly house rent and I will no longer have quarrels and disagreements with my landlord due to late payments.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I mostly depend on casual jobs which are usually very rare and mostly pay very little making it hard to care of my family needs and save as well. During these times, I have not been able to make any money which made me stressed out and afraid that the landlord may lock me and my family members out of the house due to late payment because I stay in a rental house. Currently, I feel my life is different in that this transfer has really come in handy since it has covered a huge part in financing the buying of building materials which I am planning to use in the construction of a new house in my homestead which will relieve me from the burden of paying monthly rent.
Do you have any new goals that you didn't have before receiving the transfer?
My new goal is to construct a new decent house in my homestead. I believe that this goal will come to true because I have bought building materials I wish to continue doing so with my upcoming transfer so that I can build a better house as soon as possible.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced in life is heading a family as a child. After the demise of my father,my mother fell ill and this forced me to assume the role of breadwinner at the age of twelve.Balancing between school and providing for the family made life so difficult for me.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening after work.At this time I always have some money to buy food for my family unlike in the morning when I do not know what is in store for me and my family.
What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
My plan is to spend the transfer from Give directly to purchase more vehicle spare parts and sell at the garage where I work as a mechanic instead of going to Kisumu every time the parts are needed. I will use the remaining amount to construct a new house.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
The achievement that am most proud of is having my own family.Having grown up as an orphan away from home, people though that I would not come back and settle at home but now I have my own family and am so proud.
