How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Currently, I am so happy having prepared my piece of land so well in readiness for planting. I do believe that in the future we will not have food shortage. Again , for the first time ever in my life, I cleared school fees for my children on time and my children in school. Back at home we home have enough food and we can afford to have three meals a day unlike before when we would skip a meal.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
According to me, Give Direct is a source of real change in our community as they gave us free money and that they allowed us to spend on whatever we chose.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
My second transfer which I got from GD, I spent part of it to prepare a piece of land for farming. I also spent part of it to build a house. The rest I spent to clear school fees for my children.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
Now we are so happy that our children are in school as we managed to clear their school fees. Before they used to be sent home for fees and these would gave use lot of stress as sometimes we wouldn't manage to get money for paying their school fees. We can now take a breath and plan on saving for paying for next year's.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment we get these money we felt so blessed and say thank you for the money which we got from Give Directly.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
The money which Give Directly sent to us we spent KES 33000 to pay school fees for our children in secondary school. I spent the other portion to buy four sacks of maize for consumption. The remaining money I also spent to buy iron sheets for building a house.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have ever faced in my life is that I am living with disability. My left hand was chopped off while I was tilling my land back in December 1992. Since then, I have not been able to work much and hence get little money which is not able to meet the needs of my family since I am constantly forced to rely on my community members.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happiest in the afternoon when I am having lunch with my family.
What does receiving this money mean to you?
First, I thank Givedirectly for considering me as a recipient. Receiving this money will enable me to pay school fees for my children who are currently in secondary school. Their education has been one of my biggest challenges because I do not have a constant source of money to meet my obligations as a parent.
