How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Had I not received the transfers we would not be having a stable income. Instead, my spouse would still be working for people which was not paying well. I am glad through the money we were able to purchase a motorcycle that my spouse is currently operating. The income has improved and we can currently afford a whole day's meal unlike the previous case.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, Give Directly does well especially by giving people cash without conditions on how to spend it. This has really helped people to achieve most of the dreams that they could not achieve. On the other hand, there is nothing they are not doing right.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I added the first transfer to the second transfer and bought a motorcycle for taxi services. My spouse is currently operating it for taxi services and I am glad we now have a reliable source of income. Previously, he used to operate someone's motorcycle but he did not earn much from it because they had to share the profit at the end of the day. Our income has now improved and we are able to meet our family's needs.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was away from the house and I had left my phone in the house. When I came back to the house, I went to check my phone and it was when I saw the Mpesa message. I was very very happy and shocked at the same time; I was not expecting the transfers at that time. I was very happy.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I was able to pay down payment for our own motorbike, and we can now own our own motorbike.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent $500 out of my transfers to pay as down payment for purchasing a motorcycle. I spent the remaining $40 on food. I intend to purchase a motorcycle for commercial purposes, where by my husband can use it to transport passengers for pay, in order to effectively provide for our three children. My husband is currently employed as a motorcycle rider. We both felt that owning our own motorbike would maximise his pay and his profits. A new motorbike costs $1080. I will spend my second transfers to complete payment of the motorcycle, so we can finally own our own motorbike.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Being a housewife and a total dependant on my husband who is a motorbike taxi driver. My wish has been to purchase a motorbike for him because the one he is using belongs to our neighbor. The income from his job is utmost 5 dollars per day and is required to pay 3 dollars per day to the owner. My plan is to spend $ 700 to purchase the motorbike this will increasing his income something that will change our life for the better.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Morning is the happiest part of my day. Waking up healthy and refreshed after a good sleep gives me hope and ready for another day of work.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Despite my husband having experience in the motorbike taxi job he has never get a chance to own a motorbike. This has forced his to borrow from my neighbor a thing that troubles my mind with the income of $ 2 per day he can not fully provide for the basic needs like food and clothing for my family of 5 members. Therefore, I consider lack of adequate finances to fulfill my dream as my biggest hardship.
