How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I am now filled with joy as I now finally see myself as a Kenyan. I feel like I can now be counted as a Kenyan. Previously, I lived a life of struggle. I used to suffer a lot with my family with no peace and joy in our home. This was also because we lacked money to improve our lives. Now I even own cattle and I can live in a better house. My life is totally different. There is joy and peace in our house everyday.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Give Directly has done well in giving us money and letting us spend the money in the best way we feel will assist us. I have been able to do the things I have wanted to do but I lacked the finances to do them. I am grateful to Give Directly. I have seen nothing that Give Directly has done wrong.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer to purchase building materials such as iron sheets, cement and nails to build a new house. The house I live in with my family has been in bad condition and we have had to persevere living there. My husband has no stable income and so we had been forced to keep living in the mud-house. I was happy I received transfers from Give Directly and now I can build a better house for my family. I intend to put the remainder of the money into a business such as a retail shop, that can sustain my income and help feed my family.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference that the transfer has brought into my life is the happiness and peace of mind with an assurance that my children will go to school with less hustle. With the two running projects, there will be an additional cash inflow to acter for their school fees.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I received my transfer on the 6th of November at around 5 am. I was woken up by the message from GiveDirectly. Seeing the message really brought great joy into my life and I felt happy since the transfer would help me to accomplish many things that I was not able to do in life.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent part of the transfer on purchasing two cows and two goats. To me buying this livestock meant I will earn a living in the near future since this project can thrive well in our area. In addition to this, I bought 8 chicken with intention of rearing and selling in future to help cater for my children's school fee. These two projects are a source of future financial security.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that I will start poultry farming. This will enable me to have an income, that I will use to provide food and education needs for my children. I will also construct a new house since the current one is in poor condition.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening when I am resting and talking with my children. This is because they laugh a lot and relieve me of stress.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I am facing in life is lack of enough money and I am unable to cater for my family needs. Sometimes we are forced to go without food and my children do not have enough clothing. This is because I lack a stable source of income.
