How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different now because I live peaceful in that I managed to complete the dowry of my spouse therefore I'm so proud of it since im no longer a laughing stock in the community. Nowadays I can plough with my own oxen and farm anytime I wish unlike before whereby I could beg for people to plough for me. These transfers have greatly impacted my life positively economically, socially and physologically. Prior to getting transfers my life was so difficult whereby I solely depended on causal work to take care of my family.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has done so many wonderful things in my life, first and foremost I did not have livestock but through these transfers I managed to get some. I hadn't completed the traditional marriage but when I got the transfers it helped me offset that debt. In addition to that GD senstized us and gave examples of how to spend money on depending on the most pressing needs. They also do follow up to ascertain if we received the money and how we spent the transfers. There's nothing wrong GD did in my community.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my transfer on buying livestock, feeding, medical and hiring farm land.
