How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is currently different in that this money has given a sense of belonging since I can now associate with people freely due to my improved lifestyle such as dress code, and ownership of property. Before receiving this money, I was always not considered in any gathering since they took me to be a very poor person by the look of my dress code.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly has done well by bringing about development in my community. This is evidenced from the improved housing, feeding, education for children among others. To me, It has helped give me money that helped me at the time when I really needed it. For example at the time my family was undergoing a lot of trials. However, in my opinion there is nothing bad that GiveDirectly has done.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent part of my second transfer to treat my family members such as my mother and daughter who fell sick in intervals, had to organize for funeral arrangements of my grandchild who was a still born. I bought cement to plaster my house and give one sack to the church for the on going construction project. Lastly, I bought ground nut seedlings, paid labor that helped to plant the seedlings and cassava stems.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The greatest difference in my life is that, I have built a kitchen for my self. I feel relieved from issues that were bothering me especially debts. I also look forward to plastering my house since materials have been procured. Previously, I was cooking in a grass thatched kitchen with a leaking roof and whenever it rained, water could drip in both food on the cooking stove and that preserved for future consumption.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received the transfer, I felt happy. I knelt down and prayed for those God has given the grace to give to the poor and I asked him to continue blessing them.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I used my first transfer for constructing a kitchen. I also bought materials (15 bags of cement, three trips of sand) that I intend to use for plastering my house . I deposited UGX 250,000 for labour.
