How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
At my old age, I am very grateful that I was among the beneficiaries. My life is much different in that I built a two roomed house. More so, part of the cash transfers was spent on clearing my medical bills. Previously, I would fall ill but could not afford any medical treatment. I was sleeping on tattered bedding. However, I am very delighted that the cash transfers empowered me to acquire bedding and more so construct a house.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has done well to raise the poor through giving them cash transfers. The entire community is grateful for the cash transfers.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second cash transfer to purchase iron sheets, bricks, cement and the balance was spent to pay the builders.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that, I am happy because of being one of the beneficiaries. I am in the process of constructing my house that I thought I would die without owning one. Before, I used to live a miserable life being a widow, life was not simple. I sleep in a grass thatched leaky house that lacks the comfort needed for an individual.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received my first cash transfer, I felt very excited because I had been blessed by GivDirectly. I offered thanks to God with UGX 10,000.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first cash transfer worth UGX 800,000 for buying bricks that I intend use for building my permanent house. I gave a tithe of UGX 10,000 as thanksgiving to GOD. The balance of UGX 890,000, I have saved it with intent to spend it on buying cement and paying for labour for the builders.
