How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
There is really a great difference in my life currently compared to how it would have been without the transfers. I have registered a lot of changes among them the construction of a new house and the purchase of livestock. All these would not have been possible without the transfers which we received.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, the fact that GieDirectly offered to help every household in every village they visited was a work well done for us. There is nothing to complain about since we never even expected the great support they gave us which indeed left us amazed and thanking them for that.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
Upon receiving the second transfer from GieDirectly, I decided to spend 30000 KES on completion of the new house whose construction had started with the first transfer. School fees payment was also a priority then and I had to spend 15000 KES on it. I used the remaining amount on obtaining new clothing for my children and also replenish foodstuff in our household.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I cleared paying the school fees for my two children in secondary school. We do casual jobs in the village and the amount of money we get cannot gather for the basic needs and school fees at the same time. This was affecting our children in terms of the performance because most of the time they could be at home due to lack of money to pay their school fees. Nowadays their performance has improved because they spent most of their time in school. I have also gotten peace of mind because I concentrate on my daily activities at home without getting worried about my children education needs.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received my money I felt so happy. I remember it was very early in the morning when I received the money. I felt so happy because I knew I would be in a position to complete the building that I had started before. My Children were also happy because they knew I would pay their school fees on time.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer to complete the house that I had started to build before I was registered for GiveDirectly money and the rest of the money I used it to buy a dairy cow, food and school fees for my children in various schools.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
My first priority upon receiving this money is to complete paying this year's school fees for my children who are always on and off school due to fee arreas. I plan to also use the money to complete furnishing my house as well as buying furniture and other household items.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I normally spend most of my mornings and afternoons in the farm feeding my livestock and also weeding and digging in the garden. Evenings mark the happiest part of my day since its the time to rest after a tiresome day
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I have four children in seconday school and six in primary school, yet my husband and i have no reliable source of income hence we struggle alot in paying their schoolfees as well as providing their needs. My husband engages in a small business of buying livestock from the village and selling them in the nearby market during market days, which ain't reliable since most of the times he comes back home with the unsold herd which makes our life more difficult.
