How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different in that I have enough milk for my family and no longer struggle to buy milk as I used to do in the past. I also sell the surplus milk to cater for my family basic needs. The poultry project is a good source of income to meet other household basic needs. I have also acquired household items such as utensils that I did not have in the past.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Give Directly exercises fairness in the enrollment process and also delivers its promise by sending cash directly to the recipients.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I used my second transfer to buy a dairy cow. I decided to invest on dairy farming to provide enough milk for my family since I have been buying milk for many years and it was costly since I did not have any source of income. I will also sell the surplus milk to cater for my family basic needs. I also used part of my transfer to start a poultry project. This will be an additional source of income to meet other household basic needs. I also bought three bags of maize for my family since I have been buying maize flour on a daily basis.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I am very happy to be among those who will be receiving this cash transfer. I intend to use this cash in building a house for my family and practising poultry farming. Thank you very much GD.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening when I am back from my farm with some foodstuff for my family to take for supper.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I had a childhood dream of one day becoming a lecturer but unfortunately this dream was short-lived due to my parent's inability to pay for my school fees. As a result, I had to drop out of school and started engaging myself in casual labour to atleast help my parents in catering for my younger siblings. Getting a good job has been very difficult due to my level of education and this for me is the biggest hardship I have ever experienced.
