Our new goal is to buy more land to add to the piece that we have. We want to increase the size of the land so that the calves that we bought with the transfers will have enough space to graze. I have some savings and I plan to raise more money from my shop business so that I can buy the piece of land.

GiveDirectly did well by enrolling all the people in the community. They were not biased in their selection and they were not corrupt. They did not ask for a bribe to enroll people. I do not see anything wrong with their work and I, therefore, urge them to keep up the good work.

We spent most of the transfer money on buying more items for our shop business. We invested KES 20000 in it. We decided to do so so that we can increase the profit and save some money that we plan to use in buying more land. We also bought another calf at KES 16000. We had bought one calf with the first transfer. We decided to buy the calves because it was a way of saving money, and also because the calves were going to help us in the future when our children join secondary school. They are at the moment in primary school and the money that we are paying for their school fees is not a lot. It was on a Thursday morning when I heard my phone vibrate and upon checking it was a confirmation message confirming great news of receiving a cash transfer from Give directly. I was happy and even called one of my neighbors to check whether he had received it as well. He confirmed that he had received it and he was so excited.

The biggest difference in my daily life is the acquisition of the water tank. It has given me ample time to go about my daily activities without disruption knowing that I have enough storage of water and my family won't have to strain by walking a long distances to fetch water.

I needed this so that I could harvest rainwater for use because we would walk long distances to fetch water which was tiresome. In addition, I spent Kshs.5,000 in purchasing cement and ballast which would be used to prepare the place for stationing the tank so that it cannot be easily be damaged by moving water, especially during rainy seasons. I also spent Kshs.16,000 to buy two young bulls to add to my livestock so that in the future I can use them to till my land and also I can sell whenever an emergency arises. With the remaining amount, I spent it on clothing and foodstuff for my household.
