How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The GiveDirectly cash transfers have transformed my life alot. First and foremost, I cleared alot of debts which I had accumulated when my wife was ill and she required an urgent operation. The cash transfers enabled me to clear these medical bills at once. I am now a debt free man and happy that my wife's health has improved. More so, my home is at peace because we have plenty of food. We nolonger sleep hungry like before.
I am very grateful that GiveDirectly came to our aid.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, I applaud GiveDirectly for operating independtly without the intervention of any government officials. This enabled the people to receive the cash transfers. However, GiveDirectly should not base on rumours when enrolling the communities. For example, there are people who are residents but were terminated basing on rumours that they were outsiders. They need to always exhaust all avenues to collect concrete information before terminating residents.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second cash transfer to pay school fees worth UGX 250000. I paid UGX 700000 for my spouse's medical bills and I purchased a solar system worth UGX 250000. I purchased a sack of groundnut seeds worth UGX 100000 and I spent UGX 150000 to clear and till my farm land. I also bought food with the remaining balance.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
Prior to receiving this money, the owner of the plot of land wanted to resell it to another person because I could not raise money on time. I am now a happy man knowing that I finished to secure my plot of land that will serve as my home.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
On hearing the sms notification, I saw it was from GiveDirectly showing my transfer had come through. At that moment, I felt so happy that I knew my land debt would be paid off.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
My plan is to use the transfer for buying land. Iam just staying in uncompleted plot so this money i will spend to pay the plot.

The happiest part of the day is evening hours it's time I spend playing with my children.

The biggest hardship I face is poverty since I donot have land to farm where I could plant crops for my family.
