How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life has improved now in that, I no longer worry how to raise money to construct a house like I used to before receiving this money. I managed to construct a permanent house that I will soon occupy once construction is done. When I enter my house, I will not be spending any more money on grass to maintain the hut therefore I will use it to buy other necessities in my family. Prior to getting money from GD, I used to do causal work In order to get money for purchasing grass used to thatch and renovate the house whenever it leaked.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my view, People who lived a low life and never had hopes of building houses are now sleeping in permanent house courtesy of GD transfers. I for one, my standards of living were low and I could not raise money to construct a house. All the money I worked for from people's farms I spent it on buying grass to maintain my leaky house. I have realized that most people in my community put these transfers in house constructions since most people lived in ramshackle houses. In addition to that, GD staff sensitized us to take note during the time we collect our transfers and not to trust anyone your not familiar with because they could defraud us our transfers.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my whole transfer to complete the house I had started building using the first transfer.
