How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different from how it was in that, I was able to take care of my children's school fees and also took my son to a driving course without straining. This has enabled him to get jobs. Through this, he is able to support me in settling some of the household expenses. I also managed to invest in sugarcane plantation that I will benefit from in a few month's time.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, what GiveDirectly does well is that they are very transparent and corrupt free. I also like the idea of sending money to us directly through our phones. I can attest that I got unconditional cash transfer that has enabled me to take care of my needs easily. I have been able to prosper through this money since it was not a loan that could earn interest which would be very difficult to pay.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent part of my transfer on leasing land and planting sugar cane. I used to plant them on a large scale in the past but got discourages when a fire destroyed my sugarcane plantation. Starting over again was difficult and I opted to plant other crops. When I got the money, I felt it was time to try again. So I leased land and began the sugar plantation process again. They are almost ready and I am happy that I have something that will bring money in a few months to come. Apart from that, I also paid for a driving course for my son. He has now finished the course and started getting a few coins from the knowledge acquired from the course. The remaining amount was spent on clothes for my children.

I felt so happy at that moment because I was very broke and I did not what to do in my situation at that moment.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I used the cash to pay school fees for my son who had a deficit of 20000 KES. I also managed to dig a well that will generate water for me in the near future. The rest of the cash went into buying three sheep that I will rear within my compound and I know they will give multiply in the near future.
