Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
When I received my first transfers from Give Directly I felt so happy as | didn't expect such a lump sum amount of money at such a time. I thank God for this organization which supported us with unconditional cash.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
My life is different than how it would have been if I never received the transfer. I used to live in a small one-room grass-thatched house with a leaking roof. Due to this, during the rainy seasons, we were always forced to sleep in one corner. It had always been my dream to build a bigger and decent house but I had not been able to due to lack of finances. I am now happy as a parent having a decent house which is more specious.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
When I received my transfer, I spent it to buy some building materials majorly iron sheets, windows, doors, and nails to use in building a bigger and decent house for my family. The house I was living in was small and its roof was always leaking during the rainy season. My children always had to seek shelter from our neighbors as we could not sleep with them in the same room. The remaining portion I spent on buying some maize for consumption and clothes for my children.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
A decent shelter is what receiving this money means to me. Currently, my living in a small grass-thatched house which is leaking. I am planning to spend $250 on building a 2 roomed irony sheet roofed house this will gain me the happiness I lost for long because of the bad conditions of my house.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Afternoon is the happiest part of my day because I get enough time to rest from my morning chores, also we experience sunshine at this time which is rear because of the climatic condition in our area.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Imagine being a house wife in a polygamous family where everyone depend on my husband who is just a temporary casual labor, his income is 40 dollars per month which is not enough for our family of 13. Life has been hard especially getting a decent shelter for my family. This has forced us to stay in a house that is leaking. Therefore, lack of financial resources to meet the need of a good house has been my biggest hardship.
