Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
When I received the cash transfer, I was amazed and happy. The cash transfer came at a time when we were under lockdown. Life was very hard.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
My life improved alot as a result of the cash transfers. I can afford to buy food for my family compared to the past where I had to tirelessly search for manual labour.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent the first transfer to pay a debt worth UGX500000. I bought household items worth UGX200000. I spent UGX100000 on medical bills. I bought pigs worth UGX100000. The balance was spent on food.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will be able to buy a piece of land so that my household can freely cultivate and get food to feed on. The only plot that is available for use now is too small to support my need for cultivation.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happiest in the morning when I wake up healthy for I know it is the hand work of God.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I am faced with is inadequacy of money to do the things I would like to do. There is no clear source of income and yet family demnands.
