How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Upon receiving my first and second transfer, I bought bundles of zinc and mattress for my house which was my previous goals. My wife also started a new business and My new goal is to secure a piece of land for the construction of a new house. I am greatful to the family of Givedirectly for the opportunity.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Givedirectly is doing well because I have never received such a huge money so they are doing well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
My dream has always been to get my own house and help my family, but my daily earnings are little especially as a farmer. I used my transfer to buy bundle of zinc, mattress and purchase a piece of land to undertake a construction.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was working on our project farm on a Tuesday when I felt my phone vibrating in my pocket thinking that it was the normal message that I sometimes received so I decided to check my inbox surprisingly, when I took the phone it was my transfer from GiveDirectly. I begin very happy at that moment because it was my first time in life to earn such a huge sum of money.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
Before I could start receiving my cash transfer, my spouse and I have been surviving on farming and burning charcoal and now I'm grateful that Give Directly has empowered us to start a business that will help us to generate more money without us doing hard work.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I bought zinc, two bags of cement and mattress the balance was used to hired people to cut sticks for my house project.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I am a senior student and this year, I will be leaving the walls of high school. Looking at the learning condition in this place, I would like to leave this place and relocate to Monrovia to continue my academic sojourn. With the hardship in the country, especially as it relates to getting and paying for a place to stay, my plan for this transfer is to buy a plot of land and build a house. If I buy a plot of land and build my house in Monrovia, I will be able to do other things to send myself to school.
What is the happiest part of your day?
In the last six months, one of the things that made me happy was when I was celebrating my birthday. For the fact that I saw my new age and counted amongst the living, I was very glad to celebrate my birthday. Another thing that made me happy in the last six months was when my spouse came here to stay with me. She has really brought so much joy and lessened some of my burdens by helping me with the work on farm.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Currently, I am out of school because of school fees and looking at the time for our WASSCE is almost here, I am even thinking of going on my campus tomorrow to appeal to the school administration to allow me complete my mock exams and take my WASSCE. For this reason, I am burning coal now to raise the money. After I complete my tests, I will be able to sell my coal and pay all my arrears.
