Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt so happy the moment I received the money from GiveDirectly. It was not until late in the evening when my helper took my phone and confirmed that I had indeed received money from GiveDirectly like anyone else. He later went to withdraw the money and I later put it into good use as had earlier planned.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference is the dairy cow that I bought. Age is catching up with me and I needed a reliable source if income. Dairy cow was a best bet and I am happy that I was able to accomplish this.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used KES 40000 to buy a dairy cow that would help us get enough milk supply for the family where we would also sell the surplus to meet the family's needs. I used the remaining amount to buy food and clothes for my family members. I am so grateful to GiveDirectly for the timely support that has seen me more independent financially

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money will enable me to buy a dairy cow. I am elderly and I rely on my children for money to buy food and to take care of other needs of my home. Having a cow will allow me to sell milk and earn money to sustain my husband and the two children that I live with and reduce our dependency on our sons.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I have enjoyed good health and I am being taken care of well by my children. This has brought me happiness because I know that my children care for me and I have nothing to worry about.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Having a source of income is my major challenge because of my old age. I am in my sunset years and I cannot do jobs that require energy and therefore our two sons support us. This is straining to them since they also have families that need to be taken care of and having a source of income will ease the strain.
