How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The biggest difference in my life is that my son now have his own sleeping room and there he does not need to look for a place to sleep in from the uncle's house as he used to do before. I also now have a very comfortable place where my visitors too can spend their night as compared to before when i would get worried when i have visitors . I am now stress free because I managed to pay school fee for my son with ease I am so sure of him staying in school like other children.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion give directly procedure of recruiting people was free and fair, their staffs were not corrupted. The process was also very secret, mostly their way of sending money which which was M-pesa was the best because it is very convenient and safe. I did not see anything that Give directly did not do well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
My elder son did not have proper place to spend his night and even a conducive place to study. He used to sleep in his uncle's house where he was not very comfortable because there were so many conditions and complains. So when I got the cash transfer I thought of building for my son house and I spent most of the cash transfer to buy building materials and built for my son a house. My son now has a very nice comfortable house to sleep in, where privacy is paramount. He also has a very conducive atmosphere for studying as compared to before. He no longer sleeps at his uncle's house any more. I am also at peace because I no longer experience so much complains from my brother and my son too. I also spent the remaining balance to pay secondary school fee for him since he was also sent home for school fees arrears. My son has been staying home for sometimes since I was not able to pay for his school fee arrears. I thank God Give directly came to my rescue and I managed to pay his school fee and now my son is in school learning like other students.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money has made me so happy. I will use it to build a two bedroom semi permanent house. Currently I stay in a one room grass thatched house that is so small for my family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening when I am from work and I can now rest with my children as we have dinner.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I face is the lack of a stable job to provide me with a steady income . I am a casual worker and I get paid so little that I can not afford to invest in anything else apart from food. I live from hand to mouth which is not good.
