How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
As an household head with all the family needs rely on, meeting them all is a challenge. I ventured into timber business as a source of income to help me support my family. I love it and I had always looked on possible ways of improving it to earn better. This a dream that I never realised due to overwhelming daily household needs. When I received my transfer, I took some amount to buy a power saw. This has brought the biggest difference in my daily life now that I enjoy all profits alone. I feel so happy I earn more than I did thus meeting my family needs is easier. Thank you GiveDirectly.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
I have loved the honesty and kindness of GiveDirectly. They came made a promise to the community and fulfilled unlike other organizations we have seen. Thank you GiveDirectly and continue helping the needy.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I do local saw milling to earn a living, a practice that I have enjoyed since it supported my family. I took KES 15000 of my second transfer to improve my timber business. In addition, I used another KES 30000 on livestock to buy a dairy cow. I made this decision knowing that I have added a asset that I can always rely on both on daily needs and other financial needs arising in my family. Finally, I used the remaining amount of my second transfer on my household daily needs.
