Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
Receiving this transfer was an exciting moment in our household. Our fingers had been crossed as we anticipated the support to fill the close gap to our target capital that we intended to use in our dream investment. I was alone then at home when I received notification and on checking it, I was gasping for a breathe as I was shocked for a moment. I had to read it more than once, confirmed the sender, and even went ahead to check my account's balance before informing my husband of the good news. After being so sure, I called him to break the news and was so happy too that he thanked God and GiveDirectly for the support.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
After the great investment in the spare parts business we had been hoping to start for quite some time, I could not ask for more but thank GiveDirectly for honoring the great promise to support us financially. This is the biggest investment ever in our household that we are looking forward to benefiting a lot from. At the moment, it is picking as the current records show that the return is good as our saving of at least KES 500 per day started just at the second week after opening the shop.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
On receiving the first transfer, we had only one goal in mind that we had been saving towards with my husband over a long time. It has been our wish to one day start some businesses but this time, it was a Onestop Garage and Autospares to serve and satisfying the demands as it addresses the unmet needs in automotive parts of motorcycles. After several consultations and market research we had been doing, we needed at least KES 200,000 as a starting capital. Receiving this transfer was a great boost since we added to our savings and started stocking a room that we had booked in the nearby town, I am glad that it is currently picking after finding a shop attendant who understands much about the automotive parts. From the whole sum of KES 55000, we managed to spend only KES 2000 out of it on obtaining new clothing for our three children since they had been expecting this money too since the first day they saw the officer who had visited.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
We started building our home where my husband recently bought since we used to stay at his matrimonial home, it's a new home and we haven't finished and it's my disire that we finish it earlier so that we can start investing in dairy farming which we have always admired to do. My husband is a casual laborer who depends in selling goats in the market we end using all what he gets for food and pay school fees for my children. I plan to spend 500 dollars to complete my house and spend the rest to start a dairy farming.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My happiest part is during the night, when we are sleeping with my children, I able to talk with my children and get to know how they have spent the day.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I was married in a polygamy family and my husband does everything to both families, I have admired to do my own things in the family to earn a living, this dairy farming will boost my income at home.
