Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
In the next four months, I have a new goal to purchase a cow. I have been working hard in the merry-go-round trying to make a monthly contribution of 1000 KES monthly to the other 15 members. This will boost my savings a great deal and enable me to buy a cow when my turn in the group is due.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
Receiving the transfers from GiveDiretly has been a solution to a lot of struggles we were facing before. We have managed to settle a lot of issues, problems related to finances are all manageable at the moment among other differences. In the last four months, the biggest difference in my daily life is the purchase and supply of enough foodstuff to my household. This for sometimes had been a great challenge since we could not work up to the targets when it comes to expenses. Maize and milk purchases have been that expensive that we would always find ourselves either taking a loan or obtaining them in credit which is not the case at the moment. We are thankful to GiveDirectly for great support.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
My expectation in the next six months is to have completed the construction of the new house I have been working on and also to have received my turn from the merry-go-round which will enable me to purchase a cow.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently different from how it was four months ago in that I have been able to furnish my house by cementing it. My aim is to turn it into a semi-permanent house so that it be presentable. Cementing the floor has made my work easier as I now take less time cleaning it. The amount of dust circulating inside has also reduced thus I am no longer living with the fear of my family contracting a respiratory disease.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I have been buying milk on a daily basis and it is always expensive especially during dry seasons. My family at times are forced to take tea without milk. As a way of minimizing my daily expenses and creating a source of income, I am planning to buy a dairy cow in the next four months. I will use the savings I will be given from our merry go round group to achieve this.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer is that I am now able to cater for my family needs on time. Before, my family would at times take one meal a day when I did not have money. I am now glad since we now take three meals a day even without me working on other peoples farms the whole day. Due to this, I have always been able to get enough rest which my body needs.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect my life to change in the next six months in that I will have bought a dairy cow. Being able to get the dairy cow will make me very optimistic that very soon, I will stop buying milk from my neighbors. In addition to this, I will also be able to earn an income through the sale of surplus milk when it reproduces.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
Before I started receiving GiveDirectly transfers, life for us was really difficult. We lived from hand to mouth since we entirely relied on casual labour to earn a living. The transfers enabled me to join a merry go round where each member contributes KES 1000. It is through this merry go round that we have been able to buy a dairy cow that is almost calfing for the family. This has been the greatest difference in my daily life in the last four months.
