How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than it would have been if I never received the transfer because I have been able to expand my farming by renting a three-acre piece of land which I planted maize on and used better fertilizers and I am hoping to get a better harvest than I have always got. I am a peasant farmer who only planted on a small piece of land which was not even enough for my family's consumption because the harvest was really dismal. I am happy that we will have enough eat as well as to sell to enable us get some income.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly does well by letting individuals to make their own choices on how to spend their transfers without any conditions. This has really helped us to realize most of our dreams which we thought would never come through.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer to pay school fee for my children which had been a big problem since I do not have a reliable source of income that could feed us as well as get to pay all the school fees on time. I am glad the fee issue is now solved and my children will stay in school and hopefully improve on their grades. I spent the remaining part of my second transfer to reinforcing my semi-permanent rental houses which were in a bad condition and most tenants had moved out. I am now at peace knowing that I will get more tenants and also optimistic to have a constant source of income from the rental houses and do thank GiveDirectly for reviving my dreams.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means a lot to me since I was struggling to pay fees to my children, it therefore means that my children will not miss classes because I will clear their fees arreas. The remaining money out of the cash transfer will help me in improving my farming by buying fertilizer and quality seeds to ensure that I havest more maize next season.

The biggest hardship I have faced in life is taking care of the young girls alone, their demands are so much yet I do not have proper source of income, they end up missing classes or lacking basic girl child essentials yet I am not able to help, this affects me so much emotionally.
