What does receiving this money mean to you?
I am grateful that in four months I will have completed my primary school Education. I wish to proceed to secondary school and even college so that I can have a bright future. With the monthly transfers from givedirectly, I will be able to see through my secondary school education. In addition to this, I will also start rearing 3 goats and by the time I complete my secondary school, they will have multiplied as they reproduce. This will support me through college.
What is the happiest part of your day?
It was my first time receiving a present from my science teacher. I had been performing poorly in this subject but I decided to study hard and it bore fruits. Getting an A in this subject was my biggest joy because I had surpassed my target. Hard work pays.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
As a student, I don't have any source of income generation. I depend on my parents who do casual jobs to meet all our needs. The money they get is not enough to provide for us. This has left me with fee arrears of 330 KES for this term which I may not be able to clear in good time.
