How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is better, I paid a debt which enabled me get back the land I had given to the money lender as security. I am currently cultivating in it. Another difference in my life is that I am now officially married after payment of dowery, I feel happy and we are leaving in peace. Previously, I shared farm land with my father inlaw and we got little harvest and we had no say on it. My mother also could often complain to my husband over dowery. It is a traditional requirement that a man should pay dowery for a wife.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly does well not to ask us for bribes and to sensitise us to be aware of fraudsters. I commed them for good work, there is nothing they did bad.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer for buying livestock that was taken to my parents as dowery. I also bought seeds.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
My life has changed because I have got back my acre of land that acted as security. I'm expecting to have increased harvest this season because I have an additional acre, seeds and money for farming. As a family, we also own a cow that I believe will be given to my parents as dowry. Before, I use to share the only acre we had with my father in-law and this resulted to reduced harvest. I haven't got blessings from my parents because my husband has not paid dowry. As dowry is traditional requirement for a marriage in our community.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received my money, I became very happy because I had received the money that will help me clear my debt.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I paid off a mortgage at UGX 800,000 and got back my acre of land. I also bought a cow UGX 600,000, G nut seeds at UGX 100,000, I have not yet spent UGX 200,000 but I am planning to use it for farming.
