Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
Long before I received the cash transfer, I had no bed in my house. I was sleeping on the floor which was uncomfortable. However, I am now full of joy because I have purchased a bed and new bedding.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I received the cash transfer message at night. However, I read it in the morning. I checked my account to confirm if indeed it was true. When I confirmed the message, I felt very happy because GiveDirectly had chosen to help my household.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first cash transfer to purchase iron sheets worth UGX 450000 and timber worth UGX 250000 and cement worth UGX 600000. I also purchase household items such as a mattress, a bed, and bed sheets all worth UGX 250000. The balance of UGX 150000 I plan save so as I buy a cow.
