Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received my transfer, I can recall that It was early in the morning when my children were preparing to go to school. Then suddenly I heard my phone ringing, Upon checking, I saw a text showing that I had received money from GiveDirectly. I was overwhelmed with joy and happiness because I knew that I would be able to accomplish my goals in good time.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
School fees have been my major challenge because I depend on my small business in paying for their fees. It has been an uphill task because I have been forced to sell some of our properties many times. But I am happy that GiveDirectly support enabled me to pay the fees right on time, They will no longer be sent home to look for school fees anytime soon. Thus I am forever grateful for the support that uplifted our lives.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I am a local businesswoman specialing in selling vegetables in the village market. Upon receiving my transfer, I thought of purchasing a dairy cow worth KES 25,000 to cut down on the expenses of buying milk daily. I had a cow before but unfortunately, I was forced to sell it due to school fees needs. I then used KES 27,000 in clearing the school fees arrears for my children. Lastly, I used the remaining amount on foodstuffs. I am grateful for the support that impacted our lives amazingly

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I am struggling with the high cost of buying milk for my family, I usually buy milk daily to feed my family. This is not easy now that I do not have a stable income. With this money buy a dairy cow with KES 20000 and KES 60000 to buy 0.2 acres of land to enable me to have some space to rear this cow and build a permanent house for my family. I rely on my small businesses which earn me KES 500 daily to support my family. This is little for us and not enough to buy a cow. I will then use the remaining to buy food for my family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happy that in the last six months I managed to pay school fees for my daughter. She was not sent home to fetch school fees and this gave her peace and stability in school.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I don't have a stable source of income I struggle financially to support my family and pay school fees.
