Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received transfers, I was very happy because I knew my dreams are going to be fulfilled. It was my first time receiving such a huge sum of money.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that with the construction of a new house, my home is now comfortable as compared to before. One added advantage is that with the iron sheet roof, I am now in a position to harvest clean rain water for my family use hence no more hassle to walk long distance in search of water
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent the money I received from Give Directly to construct a new decent house since it was one of my main priority considering the existing one was old and had a leaking roof. I also purchased three sacks if maize for my family consumption and a few new decent clothes for my entire family

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I have had to borrow my neighbor's mobile phone for this phone call enrollment because I do not have one. I will spend about $20 of my transfer to acquire a new mobile phone to ease communication and security of my transfer from GiveDirectly. Secondly, I want to add another new house in my homestead to make it two, so that my children do not have to go over to the neighborhood for sleep everyday. This jeopardizes their security especially my daughters. The house will cost approximately $300 inclusive of labour. Since I only rely on casual jobs in the village, I will purchase a dairy cow worth #300 to provide milk to supplement our usual meagre meals and sell the surplus for income.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I have a few chicken work so hard to find them food, including going to cafes in a nearby shopping centre to collect kitchen wastes. I collect about five eggs that feed my family for the day. This makes me happy.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I make bricks to earn a living. What I am paid at the end of the day only sustains my family for the day's meal. Market for the bricks has since declined since the onset of the unpopular corona virus pandemic. I have been forced to stay at home for the better part of this and last month. All our Children are home after closure of schools and I have no work thus there is no food. We are living in desperate times and my biggest worry is that my children are going to starve and may succumb to malnutrition.
