How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is now better because through these aid, I paid of the debt which had taken me five years to clear and repossessed my farm land. I'm now sure of food security next year. Secondly, I have a permanent builing in my compound Previously, my compound was surrounded with thatched houses only and I suffered from food shortage because I had a small piece of land to cultivate.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly has done well by improving my standards of living. I also now have a permanent builing in my home and repossessed my farm land. GiveDirectly has not done anything wrong.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I used my second transfer on purchasing ( iron sheets, 3 trip of bricks, 2 trips of sand and 10 bags of cement) and paid labour.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
Previously, I used to farm on one garden which wasn't enough to produce good harvest due to intercropping method because some crops could not cope up with the others resulting to poor yields. My life is different now because I have managed to clear all the land debts and claim ownership of my other two garden meaning that I have enough land to farm on. Furthermore, I managed to buy a cow that I believe will multiply in future when it reproduces and supply me with milk that I can either sell or consume.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
My heart was filled with joy and happiness because GD has liberated me from extreme poverty I lived in for a very long time.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I used my transfer to pay off land loan which we got for sending off my dad in-law during his funeral ceremony and our land was used as collateral security. I also bought a cow and the remaining money I used it on purchasing household items.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I am going to buy some cows that will help my children in future. It will help in their education or even marriage.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the afternoon. This is because I sit with the neighbours and we chart stories. Its also the time I see my children playing especially after lunch.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I am facing is limited land for agriculture as well as oxen for ploughing. This has always made my home run short of food especially during the dry season.
