How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is better now in that, The things I wasn't able to achieve I have acquired them using GD transfers. For example I managed to repair my damaged house using this transfer that the wind had blown in 2017. I live a more comfortable life now with less stress compared to the past because I can afford to anything want like food, pay fees and livestock among others. Prior to receiving this money, My house was in an ugly shape because it wasn't plastered, floored and wind had blown the roof but now its one of the most beautiful houses in the village.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GD has done so well because the conditions of living I previously lived were so poor and when GD intervened, My standards of living improved. My roof was blown away by wind and after receiving this money, I was able to work on it using the transfer. In my community, The majority of people were sleeping in grass thatched houses but ever since GD sent out transfers most people have built houses, bought land, livestock and land. These transfers have really improved people's standards of living compared to the past. However, there is nothing wrong GD has done in my community everything went on well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
When I received this money, I gave my son to buy an ox that we shall use for plowing since the planting season will begin soon. I had previously sold the oxen I had because one was lame and could not plow and one fell sick, So decided to replace them with this transfer. I also paid school fees for my grandchildren, One is pursuing a tailoring course and the other is a candidate in senior four. This will help them secure their future. The other money I used for buying Solar system, Groundnut seeds and the remaining one I'm using for buying food.
