How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I had a goal of fencing a piece of land I had purchased before which had stressed me since I could find animals from my neighborhood grazing. In addition, I plan to buy a generator and a tank so that I can harvest water from a nearby river directly to the farm which not only will I use to water the grass from the farm but also will be a source of water for my neighbors who are currently walking long distances to fetch water.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, the channeling of money was fair and even the thought of giving cash transfer allowed each individual to decide on what to spend on. I have no complaints since all the procedures were adhered to as we had been informed by Give directly officers.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
Upon receiving my last transfer, I was happy that I would finalize my planned project of fencing the land I had purchased earlier.I bought fencing materials which cost Ksh.20,000 and labor was Ksh.5,000 and bought a heifer with the remaining amount.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was around 9:00 am, I can vividly recall that I had a client in my salon when I heard my phone ringing, I was so happy when I saw a message alert showing that I had received my transfer from GiveDirectly, I called my neighbour to inform her of the good news but coincidentally that was what she wanted to tell me, we were all excited with happiness.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my life is that my shop is fully stocked with modern salon equipment, my customers are no longer disappointed or forced to proceed to the next shopping centre in search of better services, I am happy that I no longer worry about buying milk daily meaning that I will save on some money, I am so happy and grateful that the transfer has changed my living standards to a better and admirable one, I believe that my business will blossom.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I am a hairdresser in the village, but I did not have enough equipment in my shop, therefore, I used KES 25000 in buying modern salon equipment, I then used KES 21,000 in purchasing a dairy cow that would produce milk for my daily usage, I am relieved that my business will expand because it's fully stocked.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will be able to improve on my farming. My main source of income currently is subsistence farming. Maize crops have been doing well in my area untill recently weather become unfourable. Mostly we experience prolonged drought and have been thinking of doing irrigation because I am luck my land is adjust to a river. I had actualize my desire because our parents lefts us long time ago and I have been struggling to raise my collage fees. If I will be lucky to receive this transfers I will purchase a generate and some other irrigation materials to fulfil my dreams. This will enable me to raise school fees for my young sister so as she does faced the challenges I experience.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Subsistence farming is my main source of income. Since I do not have enough resources mostly I do farm preparation on my own. It involves a lot manual jobs like digging the land thats tedious and draining a lot of energy. Mostly I complete this work by around noon and during afternoon hours I get time to relax abit and thats is my happiest part of the day.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced in my life was in the year 2007 when I lost my parents. Since then I had no one to depend on for school fees payment and more so food because my elder siblings still young also. We had no others but to seek for assistance for any well wishers untill recently I was now old enough to start doing casual jobs to raise school fees and meet other family basic needs.
